Have you ever felt rejected? Maybe by your parents, your friends, your siblings, or maybe someone you thought loved you, and maybe even God? Have you ever felt like you were not wanted, cared for, or needed? Rejection hurts. It cuts deep, and makes us feel insecure about who we are. If you have ever felt like that then you share something in common with Jesus. When Jesus came into the world, he was rejected by the people of his hometown in Nazareth (Luke 4:14-30), by the religious leaders of the world known as the Pharisees, and ultimately the world when he was crucified. In Psalm 118:22 the Bible says “The stone that the builders rejected has become the cornerstone.” The cornerstone is the most important stone that builders selected, because if it was off, even by an inch, then the whole foundation of the building would be off as well. See, God turned Jesus, “the rejected stone” into “the cornerstone”. God used Jesus to save the world from their sins, and turned His son into the most important foundation we can find in our lives. If you feel rejected, then you are in the perfect place for God to use you and do something important with your life, because of how special you are to Him. If you want to be saved, all you have to do is trust God to save you, by grace through faith, and he will become your cornerstone. He will hold firm in the worst storms of your life.
