Complacent

My song of the day related to my devotional is Oceans from (Crowns and Thorns). It mentions how we can use the spirit of Jesus to lead us through the ups and downs of life to keep us steady and on the right path.

Have you ever gotten to a point in your life where you felt that you do not need to work any harder because you are doing fine? Where you were so self satisfied that you started to ignore and downplay those who have helped you all along? That is the work of complacency, and the bible strongly rejects this. We can’t stop all the good we have done that got us to a good part in our lives because then everything can unravel. The reason we keep trudging forward in life is as mentioned in Hebrews 6:12 “so that you will not be sluggish, but imitators of those who through faith and patience inherit the promises”. Through this piece of scripture it can be seen that truly great things come through patience and longevity of hard work and dedication. Thus, while we will make mistakes in life and fall complacent at time, as long as we keep striving towards God and becoming better people in our relationships, work, etc.  Then we will eventually get all we deserve through God as our reward for being patient, steady, and true to him.
